About Us and History

BAL opened for business more than 30 years ago as a family owned start up company. At that time BAL was a small shop
providing custom labels and decals to companies in the Bay Area.

Some things, like our location and size, have changed. We’re now a large custom Product ID component manufacturer serving customers all over the United States and beyond. And in 2006 we proudly became part of the Illinois Tool Works family (NYSE: ITW). With the resources, synergies and successful business practices of ITW working for us, BAL is poised to serve the custom Product ID market place better than ever in the 21st Century.

BAL is also one of several companies under the ITW BIGG (Branding, Identification and Graphics Group) umbrella. The ITW BIGG family of companies is focused on providing innovative Branding, Identification and Graphic solutions to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and Point of Purchase (POP) markets.

However, we are also happy to point out that many things have not changed at all. For example, we still hold the unshakable belief that quality products, innovative ideas and a culture of continuous improvement will allow us to offer solutions that contribute to our customers’ success.
